Aggie Casey, MS, RNAggie Casey, RN, MSN
Program Manager, Cardiac Rehabilitation

Aggie Casey is a clinical nurse specialist who has over 30 years of experience in acute cardiac care, cardiac rehabilitation and health promotion. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University and a Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. She worked as Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital before coming to work at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital.

Casey has co-authored two books: The Harvard Medical School Guide to Lowering Your Blood Pressure and Mind Your Heart: A Mind/Body Approach to Stress Management, Exercise and Nutrition for Heart Health. She also co-authored A Harvard Medical School Special Health Report: Stress Management, Approaches for Preventing and Reducing Stress. In addition, she has published several articles in peer reviewed journals.

Casey has trained numerous health professionals from around the country in mind body medicine and heart health, and has presented at national and regional conferences. Her specialty areas include health promotion, mind/body medicine and heart health.

 

Sarah Jubitz, MSSarah Jubitz, MS
Exercise Specialist

Sarah Jubitz is an exercise specialist with over 10 years of experience working with patients in cardiac rehabilitation. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Trinity College in Hartford, CT, and later earned her Master of Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology from Northeastern University in Boston.

Sarah spent her early career in finance, but after several years realized she wanted to pursue a career that combined her interest in medicine with her passion for health and fitness. Upon graduating with her Master of Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology in 2010, she was hired to be the Exercise Specialist for Melrose-Wakefield Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Department. She spent the next ten years educating her patients about the cardiovascular benefits of exercise and helping them to make permanent, healthy lifestyle changes. When the Cardiac Rehab department closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she found the opportunity to continue her line of work at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner in the spring of 2021.

 

Caitlin Surprise, RN, BSNCaitlin Surprise, RN, BSN
Cardiac Rehab Nurse

Caitlin Surprise is a registered nurse who began her journey with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Simmons College. She worked as a Research Assistant and study coordinator at Boston Medical Center.

She returned to school, continuing her education with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. She has worked in a variety of hospital inpatient and outpatient settings, but she found the cardiac specialty to be the most rewarding. She works closely with patients in the BWFH Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, as well as working part-time at the BIDMC in the Cardiac Direct Access Unit (CDAc).

 

Lauren Abeles, MS, RD, LDNLauren Abeles, MS, RD, LDN
Registered Dietitian

Lauren Abeles is a registered dietician who received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, her Masters of Science in Administration from Boston University, and her Masters of Science in Food and Nutrition from Framingham State University.

She has always had a passion for nutrition and healthy aging. She works with patients in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program teaching Nutrition Classes and counseling patients on healthy nutrition.
