Across the Mass General Brigham system, member hospitals earned high marks in U.S. News & World Report’s 2020-2021 Honor Roll of America’s Best Hospitals. Mass General earned the number six spot and Brigham and Women’s Hospital earned the number 12 spot.
Here at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, three programs ranked as high-performing specialties: Geriatrics, Nephrology and Urology.
“It’s a great honor for our Division of Urology to be recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s 2020-2021 Honor Roll of America’s Best Hospitals,” says Michael Malone, MD, Section Chief of the Division of Urology at BWFH. “Our staff in the Urology Clinic are outstanding and work side by side with us to care for the growing number of patients that seek our care. Our staff in the preoperative, operative and postoperative areas help us provide the utmost care for our patients undergoing complex endoscopic and robotic procedures for benign and oncologic urologic conditions. Our Residents work tirelessly to take care of our patients postoperatively. Our labs and radiology departments also support us and are an integral part of the team. While the accolades go to our division it would not be possible without the exceptional support that BWFH’s administration provides for us both in the Outpatient Clinics and the OR.”
For Dirk Hentschel, MD, Director of Interventional Nephrology at BWFH, he notes how proud he is of the teamwork among colleagues across multiple specialties in providing such outstanding care to their patients.
“This really is a testament to the incredible team work by nurses, technologists, clinic staff, and physicians providing the highest standard of compassionate care to patients with chronic and end-stage kidney disease,” states Dr. Hentschel. “With and without COVID, staff in the renal clinic, the inpatient dialysis unit, inpatient wards for peritoneal dialysis, and in the procedural area supporting kidney biopsies and dialysis access procedures work expertly and tirelessly to achieve the best outcomes every day. The cohesive foot print of BWFH fosters a supportive and collaborative atmosphere where it is a pleasure to come to work.”
“Across our system, our employees have created a culture of caring and excellence where patients are at the center of everything we do – and this recognition is a testament to the compassion, expertise and dedication of everyone who works to support our mission,” said Anne Klibanski, MD, President and CEO, Mass General Brigham.
For the 2020-21 rankings, U.S. News & World Report compared more than 5,000 medical centers nationwide across 16 specialties, procedures and conditions. More information can be found on the U.S. News & World Report website.
