Ultrasound Supervisor takes part in Cathedral Career Day

Cathedral High School, located in Boston’s South End, recently invited area professionals to take part in its Cathedral Career Day. The day’s events gave students the opportunity to interact with professionals from many of Boston’s top businesses and organizations and show them that they too can achieve great success in their careers. Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Ultrasound Supervisor Ashley Cazeau, RDMS, was on hand to talk about her career in healthcare.

Director of Radiology Brian McIntosh recommended Cazeau. He said of her, “Ashley comes with 5+ years of experience in her field. This is her first foray as a supervisor of clinical operations, so I think she is a great example of a person really beginning to develop her career at the next level.”

For Cazeau, it was a great opportunity to share her story and inspire the younger generation. “In high school and college, I knew I wanted to work in a hospital environment, I tried to get involved through volunteering and working. I did something as simple as delivering newspapers to the patients at Stamford Hospital. I eventually became an employee at Norwalk Hospital and worked as a patient sitter,” she says. “Those things were suggested to me by working professionals in the healthcare field, who I have had the chance to interact with. It was suggested that I somehow get involved in the field that interests me to really get a feel for it. I thought it was great that CHS is providing their students with the same opportunities. It gives them a chance to hear what’s really involved in a particular profession, that it’s good to get involved through volunteering to help make a decision, it exposes them to more options and a chance to network.”

The students involved were appreciative of the advice they received. “The students asked questions regarding the amount of schooling, financial aid, how to get involved and what is involved in a particular day for a specific profession,” says Cazeau.
