Shellman named Director of Infection Control, Clinical Compliance and Patient Safety at BWFH

Andrea Shellman, MHSA, CPPS, who has been serving as the Interim Director of Infection Control, Clinical Compliance and Patient Safety at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital for several months, has been named permanent Director of Infection Control, Clinical Compliance and Patient Safety.

Shellman came to BWFH from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she has worked since 2009 as Lead Program Manager in the Department of Quality and Safety. Prior to that, she worked in transition planning at Kaiser Permanente – Los Angeles Medical Center. She holds a Master of Health Services Administration degree from the University of Michigan and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Biology and Psychology from Northwestern University.

Over the past several months, it became clear that her extensive experience in the field of patient safety is a great asset to our team. In her new role, she will manage our Joint Commission readiness, support the prevention and tracking of infections and address all manner of patient safety concerns alongside our Associate Hospital Epidemiologist Roger Clark, DO, Project Manager for Infection Control and Clinical Compliance Danielle Nordquist, MPH, and a newly hired Project Manager for Patient Safety.

“In the short time I have been here at BWFH, I’ve appreciated both being at a community hospital and collaborating with wonderful leaders at BWFH. I’m both grateful for the opportunities that lie ahead and my experiences and relationships at BWH,” she says of her decision to stay on.

Outside of work, Shellman enjoys visiting museums, walking, traveling and listening to music.
