In October, BWFH’s Community Health and Wellness department collected school supplies for the Love Your Block supply drive, a Mayor’s Office of Civic Engagement initiative aiming to get school supplies to the students that need them most. The effort is particularly important in the time of COVID-19, when students are struggling to adapt to a remote or hybrid learning environment.
In mid-October, organizers were able to give out 300 backpacks full of supplies to students at different locations throughout the city.
“Everyone at Faulkner was extremely generous, as usual,” said Community Health Program coordinator Katie Plante. “In past years, we’d have weeks to collect, but this year was much more last minute. I was so grateful to see staff still donating and invested in helping out our community.”
