Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s I CARE Award recognizes staff members who go above and beyond their regular job responsibilities to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care. This summer, the Rewards and Recognition Committee has delivered I CARE Awards to staff members from throughout the hospital.
Among them were:
Lead Diagnostic Radiology Technologist Brittany Metzger, who was nominated by Diagnostic Radiology Supervisor Jim Hegarty. Metzger took time out of her own lunch break to help a patient in a wheelchair into the cafeteria. She then went so far as to set her up at a table and make sure she had everything that she needed to enjoy her lunch.
The Transport Department’s Aalia Parris was nominated by Diagnostic Radiology Supervisor Michelle Williamson for her dedication to her patients. Williamson noted how Parris consistently helps patients with their personal needs during their trips to Radiology.
Zainabu Koroma from the Food and Nutrition Department was nominated by 6 South staff nurse Laurel Durning-Hammond for the extra care she took with a hospice patient, making sure the patient’s pancakes were warmed to the right temperature and her tray was placed within easy reach.
ED nurse Steve Campbell, BSN, RN, was nominated by Clinical Leader Lisa Lennon, MSN, RN, who helped prevent his patient from falling when they had a seizure.
Do you know a BWFH employee who has gone above and beyond to demonstrate BWFH’s I CARE Standards? To nominate a fellow colleague for an I CARE Award, please visit Vitals. A team of colleagues will personally recognize the employee by presenting them with balloons, a thank you card and a gift certificate redeemable in the cafeteria or Atrium Cafe. At the end of the year, all I CARE Award recipients will be invited to a reception.
