The Patient Experience Department at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital is pleased to welcome Maribeth Burke to the role of Patient Family Relations Manager. In her new role, Burke will be responsible for managing all compliments, complaints and grievances that come through the office, as well as acting as the liaison for the Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC).
Burke comes to BWFH with more than 20 years of healthcare experience. After earning her bachelor’s degree in English Literature, she began her career with the Massachusetts Behavioral Health Partnership before taking on the role of Senior Administrative Manager in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. She then spent thirteen years at MAXIMUS, Inc where she most recently served as Director of Provider Services and Claims Support.
Growing up playing sports, Burke has a strong affinity for teamwork. “It’s important for me to be part of a team in my professional life,” she says.
In her new role within the Patient Experience Department, she will do just that, all while making a difference in the lives of our patients and their families. “I think my focus on teamwork and my active listening skills make me a great fit for this role. I might not be able to solve a problem, but if I can validate a person’s concerns and let them know we are working to make it right, I can make a big difference,” she says.
When she is not at work, Burke devotes her free time to taking care of her two dogs and two cats and spending time with her wife and 19 nieces and nephews and 2 grand nieces. She says of her devotion to her family, “I am that aunt that spoils you. That you share secrets with that your mother doesn’t know. I’ll be there for your soccer, field hockey, football or lacrosse games. I will be at your birthday, graduations and any other important event. And if you’re the type of kid who loves art, or theatre, I’m the one taking you to museums or to Broadway. It’s one of the proudest roles that I have, and one of the joys of my life.”
