Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry recently welcomed three new providers: Victoria (Tory) Choate Hasler, PhD, Carolina Jimenez-Madiedo, MD, and Claire Twark, MD.
Dr. Choate Hasler earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Boston University. She then earned a master’s degree and doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. She is an expert in interventions for early stages of psychosis, as well as behavioral therapies, with extensive experience in mindfulness-based behavioral therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. She also provides Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with an emphasis on cultural diversity and compassion.
Here at BWFH, as associate staff psychologist, Dr. Choate Hasler provides outpatient Cognitive Behavioral Therapy two days a week. Of her new role, she says, “I very much look forward to collaborating with such a talented and caring staff and working with clients with diverse backgrounds and histories.”
Outside of work, Dr. Choate Hasler enjoys yoga, rock climbing and exploring new restaurants.
Dr. Jimenez-Madiedo studied medicine at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogota, Colombia. She then completed her residency in psychiatry at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center/Kings County Hospital Center and a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry through the Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Hospital/Brigham and Women’s Hospital Program.
As an attending psychiatrist on 2 South and in the Partial Hospital Program here at BWFH, she says she looks forward to seeing her patients and co-workers. “I believe that BWFH helps me grow and become a better person and professional day after day. I try to use what I learn in this great environment to help my patients achieve their goals and dreams,” she says.
When she is not at work, Dr. Jimenez-Madiedo enjoys spending time with family and friends, learning how to ride horses, skiing and reading.
Dr. Claire Twark studied medicine at the University of Colorado, Denver. She completed her residency in psychiatry through the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency Training Program and her fellowship in addiction psychiatry through the Partners HealthCare Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship.
She is a staff psychiatrist at BWFH, seeing outpatients in the Addiction Recovery Program. Here she treats both substance use disorders and co-morbid psychiatric diagnoses. Dr. Twark is also the Director of Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s Athlete Mind Program, seeing patient-athletes referred from the BWH Sports Medicine Department. She says, “I enjoy speaking with patients about exercise as a component of their treatment since exercise has proven to be helpful with many psychiatric symptoms.”
Outside of work, Dr. Twark enjoys exercising and cooking healthy recipes. She is a member of the Boston Triathlon Team and has completed four Ironman triathlons.
