Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s I CARE Award recognizes staff members from all areas of the hospital who go above and beyond their regular job responsibilities to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care. Kim Danna, BSN, RN, the preceptor for the Innovative Newly Licensed Nurse Preceptor Program, was a recent recipient of an I CARE Award.
Danna was nominated for her I CARE Award by a group of newly licensed nurses. In their nomination letter, they wrote:
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Kim for the last three weeks. Taking four new nurses under your belt and teaching us the ways of nursing are all the reasons you deserve to be recognized. You watched over all of us and our patients, taking on a heavy workload yourself; so, thank you Kim! As you all know, transitioning from a student nurse to a real-life nurse is no easy task, and at times it can feel overwhelming and maybe you question whether you belong in the profession; but with Kim, you have made our transition into this incredible position a lot less intimidating, and so rewarding. Your knowledge, positivity and kindness are what makes you a great nurse and mentor! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this incredible opportunity. We cannot wait to work alongside you! -Britt, Alex, Danielle and Miguel—your four little ducklings.
Do you know a BWFH employee who has gone above and beyond to demonstrate BWFH’s I CARE Standards? To nominate a fellow colleague for an I CARE Award, please visit BWFH - Vitals (intranet). A team of colleagues will personally recognize the employee by presenting them with balloons, a thank you card and a gift certificate redeemable in the cafeteria or Atrium Café.
