Pharmacy welcomes new staff

New Pharmacy Staff

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Pharmacy recently welcomed three new staff members: Medication Safety Coordinator Christina Palazzo, PharmD, Pharmacy Informatics Coordinator Matthew Wu, PharmD, and Clinical Pharmacy Specialist Brenda Hoa, PharmD, RPh.

Palazzo earned her PharmD at UConn. She comes to BWFH from Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she most recently served as an Advanced Practice Clinical Pharmacist. In her role as Medication Safety Coordinator, she will work on safety reports related to medication incidents. “I have always been a person who likes to step back and look at the process as a whole,” she says. “It’s important to look into why an incident occurred in order to identify the root cause and areas of improvement.”

Wu earned his PharmD at Northeastern University. Most recently, he worked at Lifespan Health System where he served as Willow Application Specialist working with Epic. In his role as Pharmacy Informatics Coordinator, he will look at the reports from the multiple systems and find areas for improvement. “I really like efficient use of data,” he says. “I like working with spreadsheets and optimizing workflows.”

Hoa studied Pharmacy at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Science - Worcester. She comes to BWFH from Tewksbury Hospital where she served as Clinical Operations Pharmacist. In her role as Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, she will round on the units, serving as a resource for drug information questions, providing recommendations and drug monitoring services. She will also serve as one of the advance pharmacy practice experience student preceptors. “Having trained briefly in critical care and infectious diseases, I was excited to learn that not only will I be able to continue working in these fields, but that I will get the opportunity to learn and grow as well,” she says.
