The Pharmacy at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital is pleased to welcome Ann Katznelson, PharmD, as their new Clinical Pharmacy and Medication Safety Manager.

Katznelson studied pharmacy at Northeastern University (she also taught there part-time for five years) and began her career as a Clinical Pharmacist at New England Medical Center. Over the course of her career, she has worked at Carney Hospital and Quincy Medical Center. She comes to BWFH from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she worked for the last eight years, most recently as Senior Clinical Pharmacist.

In her new role here at BWFH, Katznelson will work in collaboration with other departments to analyze incident reports and work as a consultant in coming up with solutions of how these incidents can be avoided in the future. “I will also be taking care of some administrative aspects for the Department of Pharmacy Services such as maintaining current drug policies and guidelines, co-chairing a Patient Safety Committee, participating in Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committees and other important committees which are vital for patient care at BWFH,” she says. “In addition, I will be involved in working together with Pharmacists in the department to help identify and resolve any issues related to practice of clinical pharmacy and will be involved in staff education.”

Of her decision to take on this new challenge, Katznelson says, “I have practiced clinical pharmacy for over 20 years and thought that I was ready to take the next step. So far, I’m enjoying interacting with staff and discussing important projects.”

Outside of work, Katznelson enjoys watching her two sons play basketball, TV and visiting friends.
