Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s I CARE Award recognizes staff members who go above and beyond their regular job responsibilities to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care. Two PCAs—6 South’s Beverly Jobson and 7 South’s Stacie Welch—were both recent recipients of I CARE Awards.
Both were nominated for their I CARE Awards by their colleagues for their commitment to their patients and each other.
In Jobson’s nomination letter, staff nurse Kate Cowden wrote:
Beverly is one of the most genuine, caring and hardworking people and I am so grateful I get to work alongside her. She always comes to work with a positive attitude and radiates positivity on the floor. She always puts her patients’ needs first and will always go above and beyond for each and every patient. She is the first to volunteer to help another PCA, nurse or doctor in order to provide care for all patients on the unit, even if they aren’t assigned to her for that day. I am constantly being told by my patients of how much they love working with her and how she makes their day. She shows genuine compassion and care for all her patients, beyond just their physical illness that brought them to the hospital. She gets to know her patients and builds relationships with them that make such a difference in their stay. Bev is just a phenomenal worker and she deserves to be recognized so she can be reminded it doesn’t go unnoticed.
In Welch’s nomination letter, staff nurse Amanda Davenport wrote:
Stacie has been a PCA here forever, among other positions. Her knowledge base is enormous. Today an RRT was called on a patient. She went above and beyond between making phone calls to assisting with patient care and instructing others on what to do. Stacie remains quite about much that she does and seems too often go unnoticed. She should be recognized.
