Patient Safety, Quality, Infection Control and Accreditation team members take on expanded roles

The Patient Safety, Quality, Infection Control and Accreditation team is pleased to announce that two of its members have taken on expanded roles that include leadership of department- and hospital-level initiatives in order to better meet the needs of Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s staff and patients.

Caitlin Manca, MPH, began her career at BWFH as Quality Program Manager, a role in which she demonstrated her skills with data reporting and quality improvement work. She was recently named Director of Hospital Quality. Manca will continue to oversee data reporting and quality improvement work associated with CMS, TJC, MassHealth, Get With the Guidelines and National Surgery Quality Improvement Program measures completed by the Quality team. She will now also take on completing the annual Leapfrog survey. “It is my job to ensure accurate and timely reporting of measures to ensure the hospital meets the standards measured through surveys like Leapfrog,” she says. “These surveys impact publicly reported data and financial incentives for the hospital.”

Tricia Martin, MPH, began her career at BWFH as Project Manager for Infection Control and Clinical Compliance where, among other responsibilities, she collaborated closely with hospital and Mass General Brigham infection control leaders during the COVID-19 response. She was recently named Director of Infection Control, Clinical Compliance and Patient Safety and will oversee the team’s newest members: Infection Preventionist Brittany Herrick, BSN, RN, and Project Manager for Infection Control and Clinical Compliance Danielle Nordquist, MPH. Martin will also continue to manage the hospital’s Joint Commission readiness and infection control rounding process. “There is considerable overlap in quality, patient safety, infection control and clinical compliance measures that require close collaboration to ensure that hospital performance continues to meet or exceed benchmarks,” says Martin. “I am looking forward to continuing to work closely with Caitlin and the rest our team to identify and collaborate on opportunities for improvement.”
