We know that getting a flu vaccine this fall is more important than ever, not only to reduce the risk from flu but also to help conserve health care resources. In order to keep yourself, your colleagues and our patients healthy, all Mass General Brigham employees must receive a flu vaccine before November 13. Learn where you can get your flu shot, what you need to do after you get your flu shot, how you can get a free flu shot at CVS if you do not have a Mass General Brigham health plan and important flu vaccination deadlines. Find answers to these flu vaccination questions and more on The Pulse.
Facilitated by Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Community Health and Wellness Department, the Academic Advocate Program at JP Manning Elementary School pairs BWFH staff members with fourth- through sixth-grade students who face difficulties in and/or out of school. The program is designed to help students build skills and grow confidence, particularly this year when some students are struggling with virtual learning. If you’re interested in becoming an Academic Advocate for the 2020-2021 school year and are available to meet virtually twice a month for 30 minutes with your assigned student, contact BWFH’s Community Health Program Coordinator Katie Plante.
National Health Care Facilities and Engineering Week 2020, October 25 – 31 recognizes the plant, maintenance, and engineering staffs within our organization. These teams work tirelessly to address the facilities at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital and share in the spirit of compassionate treatment and understand the importance of a healing environment. These teams ensure that our facility systems are working efficiently and safely. We are all very grateful to have such a fantastic facility and engineering team.

EAP is here to help you during this challenging time. We have created a webinar training series to support employees and managers’ emotional wellbeing, remote work and financial wellbeing. We’re doing our best to do everything right – masking within 6 feet, washing our hands, monitoring symptoms, staying home when sick and getting our flu shots. But we know that up to 50 percent of people who are diagnosed with COVID-19 may not have symptoms when they are initially infectious. That means we have to keep doing everything we can to keep all of us safe. This includes being cautious when we need to remove our masks to eat or drink. Upholding our Safe Care Commitment during meal breaks can be challenging – but it can be done by following these guidelines.
