New surgeon to operate at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital

Joan Bengtson, MD

Joan Bengtson, MD, who specializes in Obstetrics/Gynecology and Urogynecology, recently began operating at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital. She currently sees patients in clinic at the Fish Center for Women’s Health

Dr. Bengtson studied medicine at Yale University and completed her residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Here in the OR at BWFH, Dr. Bengtson will perform procedures to correct pelvic floor conditions, including urinary incontinence and prolapse. “The procedures that I perform aim to repair damage to the pelvic floor, often from childbearing and aging, that disrupt the function of the pelvic organs,” says Dr. Bengtson.

Dr. Bengtson says she is very much looking forward to getting to know the OR staff here at BWFH. So far, she has been impressed. She says, “The staff is very patient focused and works hard to assure that the highest quality care is delivered with compassion, kindness and efficiency.”

Outside of work, Dr. Bengtson enjoys spending time with family, friends and her dog Coco. She also finds time for golf at Franklin Park.
