Dafang Zhang, MD, recently joined Brigham Health’s Department of Orthopaedics as a Hand and Upper Extremity attending surgeon. He sees patients in clinic at Brigham Health locations at 850 Boylston Street, in Foxboro and in Pembroke. He will operate at Brigham and Women’ Faulkner Hospital two days per month.
Dr. Zhang studied medicine at Harvard University and completed his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. Through the Harvard Medical School system, he trained at BWFH, making his new role like a homecoming. “The part I am most looking forward to is working with all the wonderful OR staff again. They have been like family to me over the years,” he says.
At BWFH, Dr. Zhang will operate on the whole upper extremity, including pathologies of the fingers, wrist, elbow and shoulder. He has a particular interest in brachial plexus and peripheral nerve surgery.
When he is not at work, Dr. Zhang and his wife, who are self-described “foodies,” enjoy trying all kinds of new food. “When I am not trying a new restaurant, I enjoy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and watching Marvel superhero movies,” he says.
