Construction Update: September 23 to October 4, 2024

Third-Floor Hillside Garage

Final site grading and sidewalk construction is underway. The bike rack canopy is expected to be installed on Monday, September 23. The fall phase of landscaping work has also begun with the placement of loam and tree planting.

Inpatient Addition

Work is progressing for the inpatient addition with interior work and exterior wall installation ongoing. Staff and patients should expect intermittent disruptions to the loop road during this time.

Street Enhancements

Repaving of Allandale and Centre Street scheduled for this fall will begin on Sunday, September 29, and will last until Friday, October 4. This work will impact the section of Allandale Street between the Springhouse entry driveway and Centre Street. The Centre Street/Allandale Street intersection will also be paved. Per the request of the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and the Boston Transportation Department, milling and paving the road will take place during the evening from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Sunday, September 29, and Friday, October 4 (weather permitting). All other road work will be done during the day, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Striping of Centre and Allandale Streets, including the intersection on Whitcomb Avenue and Centre Street, is schedules to happen on Tuesday, October 8, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Please note, these dates are subject to change in the event of inclement weather or unforeseen conditions. Evening work will cause some noise disruptions and roads will have additional illumination. All work will require partial lane closures. Police details will be in place to direct the flow of traffic.

Interior and Roof

Work is also underway inside the hospital and on the roof to accommodate the new inpatient addition. During this time, expect there will be increased noise and possible disturbances within the hospital. Individual departments that will be directly impacted will be notified in advance to allow them to prepare and mitigate any possible disruptions to operations.

Please note, beginning Monday, September 23, the corridor outside of Huvos Auditorium will be temporarily closed. The ATM located there will be temporarily relocated to the main hallway across from the vending machines. On Monday, September 30, the existing Cafeteria seating area will close and the new dining room will open, pending the approval of a temporary certificate of occupancy.
