Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital received approval for the Determination of Need (DoN) submission in May 2022 to begin working on a campus expansion program to better support care in our communities. Construction began in May of 2023.

Third-Floor Hillside Garage
Work continues on underground utilities and the curtain wall, which requires intermittent use of the Whitcomb Avenue entrance through August. In addition, work has begun on the interior of the garage, including mason work, drywall and elevator installation.
Inpatient Addition
Work is progressing for the inpatient addition with interior work and exterior wall installation ongoing. Staff and patients should expect intermittent disruptions to the loop road during this time.
Please note, new curbing will be installed along the hospital’s driveway beginning August 23. This work will require the closure of one lane. Work is expected to be complete by September 3.
Street Enhancements
Temporary stripping is complete on Centre Street and final signs have been installed. Repaving and final stripping will occur in the fall. The Bluebikes docking station is now complete.
Interior and Roof
Work is also underway inside the hospital and on the roof to accommodate the new inpatient addition. During this time, expect there will be increased noise and possible disturbances within the hospital. Individual departments that will be directly impacted will be notified in advance to allow them to prepare and mitigate any possible disruptions to operations. Please note, beginning Monday, August 12, through early September, the third-floor corridor will be CLOSED from the Gift Shop to the Cafeteria entrance. Staff, patients and visitors are asked to use the Hillside elevators to access the third-floor lobby, Chapel, and Gift Shop and the Atrium elevators to access the Non-Invasive Testing Departments, Outpatient Infusion Center, Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates, Cafeteria, and Huvos Auditorium. Directional signs will be in place.
