BWFH's Campus Expansion

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital received approval for the Determination of Need (DoN) submission in May 2022 to begin working on a campus expansion program to better support care in our communities. Construction began in May of 2023.

Construction Update: Nov. 25–Dec. 6, 2024

Hillside Garage

Inside the garage, crews are installing pipe guards and reviewing a punch list of remaining items that need attention.

Loop Road paving (weather permitting)

Crews have begun a repaving operation on the loop road. Police details are assisting with traffic management. Milling of section 2, 3 and 4 will occur Monday evening, Nov. 25. The final pavement is scheduled for Tuesday evening, Nov. 26. Line striping is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 29. Staff and patients should use Whitcomb when exiting during loop road paving – thank you.

Upcoming work

• January 2025: Demolition of the existing garage begins.

Inpatient Addition

Work is progressing for the inpatient addition. Please see the following updates for work taking place within hospital spaces from Nov. 18–29:

First-floor Radiology active spaces:

• • Shutdown of Radiology east corridor, phase 1, Monday–Friday, 8 p.m.–6 a.m. Access to IN/IR control room and Trophon room will be maintained.
  • Nov. 25–Dec. 6: MRI/staff lounge renovations continue.

Second-floor Radiology active spaces:

• • Mechanical room (north --- future fire pump room), fire pump room construction ongoing.
  • Plastics office and café storage demolition and renovations.
  • Continued use of hospital loading dock.

Third-floor Cafeteria:

• Construction of the existing seating area continues (third floor).

Fourth and fifth floors:

• Framing and drywall for new spaces (fourth and fifth floors).

Exterior site work

• Granite curb installation (Loop Road)
• Quench vent re-work
• Sidewalk prep and landscape
• Paving of valet road
