BWFH's Campus Expansion

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital received approval for the Determination of Need (DoN) submission in May 2022 to begin working on a campus expansion program to better support care in our communities. Construction began in May of 2023.

Construction Update: Feb. 17–28, 2025

Garage

·Old Garage abatement of South Elevator Core.

· Continued EV Charger installation. Installation will require EV spots to be taken out of use during install.

·Garage demolition scheduled to begin in early March.

Inpatient Addition

Work is progressing for the inpatient addition. Please see the following updates for work taking place within hospital spaces:

First-floor Radiology active spaces:

·Renovation work continues in the Radiology East Corridor and existing MRI space behind containment walls. Ceilings being closed, millwork installation, flooring and cleaning.

· Ceiling replacement and the removal of temporary walls within MRI suite is scheduled for off hours Thursday, Feb. 27 – Friday, Feb. 28.

· Connection work is scheduled for the week of Feb. 17.

· PACU Corridor Connection work is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 22.

Second-floor Radiology active spaces:

· Wall protection installation off hours.

·Continued use of Hospital Loading Dock.

Third-floor Cafeteria:

·Renovations to existing seating area and Office Renovation continues with flooring and final painting will continue Feb.10 – Feb. 21.

·Beginning Thursday night, Feb. 20, the temporary partitions separating the renovated cafeteria seating area from the existing cafeteria will be taken down in order to complete casework. The renovated area will remain as construction space with stanchion barriers until Inpatient Addition turnover.

Third-floor Mechanical Room

· New Med Vac install

Fourth and fifth floors:

· Punchlist at “breakthrough” areas.

Exterior site work

·Hydrant work and final paving expected on Feb. 28

·Existing curb and sidewalk replacement at main entry.

Interior work within inpatient additions

· Elevator site inspections and “lights out” test

· 1^st floor: Final clean/ punch list

· 2^nd floor – 5^th floor: punch list

· Mechanical Penthouse: final cleaning and miscellaneous insulation

· Preparation for March certificate of occupancy

Future work

The flooring in the corridor outside Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy will be replaced the weekend of Jan. 18, 2025.

Fire pump sprinkler shutdown is planned for Saturday, Jan. 18, and Saturday, Jan. 25 (coordinated with Boston Fire Department).
