Construction Update: May 6 to 17, 2024

Third-Floor Hillside Garage

Pre-cast installation is now complete and the crane used to conduct this work has been demobilized. Work will continue on underground plumbing and utilities through May 17.

Inpatient Addition

Work is progressing for the inpatient addition with interior work and exterior wall installation ongoing. Staff and patients should expect intermittent disruptions to the loop road during this time.

Street Enhancements

Work for the new signaling system will begin in late May. Road markings, including a new bicycle lane on Centre Street, will be completed after installation of the signaling systems. The Blue Bike station is expected to be fully in place later in the summer.

Interior and Roof

Work is also underway inside the hospital and on the roof to accommodate the new inpatient addition. Please expect that there will be increased noise and possible disturbances within the hospital while construction activity continues. Individual departments within the hospital that will be directly impacted will be notified of any possible disruptions to operations ahead of time in order to properly prepare and mitigate impacts to patients, visitors and staff.

Please note, the gate leading from the hospital to Whitcomb Avenue has been damaged and cannot currently be closed. We are awaiting its repair and return to normal operation.
