Men's Health Center expands at BWFH

Men's Health Center

In the Men’s Health Center at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, physicians provide specialized and comprehensive care tailored to men that address common but troubling health issues that can significantly impact quality of life, such as delayed, absent or premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, low sexual desire, low testosterone and Peyronie’s disease.

In recent years, the demand for these services has increased dramatically. As a result, the Men’s Health Center recently moved to a brand new suite at BWFH. In the new suite, which is now open five days per week, the medical team offers all the services previously available and more.

Urologist Dr. Michael O’Leary, who leads the medical team in the Men’s Health Center, is excited for the opportunities the new space affords. “We currently offer several surgical and non-surgical treatment options for erectile dysfunction,” says Dr. O’Leary. “In the new suite, we will be able to offer even more options to our patients.”

One of those treatment options Dr. O’Leary is considering is an office-based procedure that uses low-intensity shock waves. “It increases stem cell growth at the level of the blood vessels,” he explains. “It’s a novel treatment that I find very interesting. I hope we’re able to offer it to our patients in the near future.”

Dr. O’Leary also plans to offer a new procedure called Penuma. “This recently FDA-approved surgically implanted device is designed to enhance penile size,” he explains. “We will be offering it to carefully selected men.”
