Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s I CARE Award recognizes staff members from all areas of the hospital who go above and beyond their regular job responsibilities to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care. The ICU’s Victoria Langrill, BSN, RN, was a recent recipient of an I CARE Award.
Langrill was nominated for her I CARE Award by her colleague Michelle Boudreau, BSN, RN. In her nomination letter, Boudreau wrote:
Victoria was caring for a patient whose family had been struggling with making decisions regarding end-of-life care. The family was not ready to let the patient go, and nursing care had become very emotionally distressing as the patient was visibly uncomfortable and suffering. Victoria spent a lot of time talking with the family, explaining his condition, answering their questions and helping them through this difficult time. The family decided to transition the patient to CMO. Victoria was able to help both the patient and his family find peace. The unit and our patients are so fortunate to work with such a kind and compassionate nurse.
Do you know a BWFH employee who has gone above and beyond to demonstrate BWFH’s I CARE Standards? To nominate a fellow colleague for an I CARE Award, please visit BWFHconnect. A team of colleagues will personally recognize the employee by presenting them with balloons, a thank you card and a gift certificate redeemable in the cafeteria or Atrium Café.
