Joshua Guerin, PharmD, MBA, has been named Director of Pharmacy Services at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital.
Guerin earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island. He comes to BWFH from South County Health in Wakefield, Rhode Island, where he held numerous positions over the past 14 years.
Most recently, Guerin served as Director of Pharmacy Services at South County Health. In that role, he was responsible for the safe medication management of the inpatient pharmacy, the pharmacy residency program, three outpatient anticoagulation clinics and South County Health’s Wellness Center.
Of his decision to leave South County Health, Guerin says it was time. “It is a small hospital and advancement opportunities are limited,” he says. “I felt like there was no more room for growth there.”
When he saw the opportunity to take on the role of Director of Pharmacy Services at BWFH, he knew it was a perfect opportunity. “I was drawn to the Brigham Health name and the fact that BWFH is part of Partners HealthCare. I was also interested in the affiliation with Harvard Medical School. My first job before South County Health was at a teaching hospital and I really enjoyed that part of the role,” he says. “So far I am pleased with my decision. The first day I walked in, it felt like home.”
In his first few weeks on the job, Guerin has been busy getting to know the hospital. “My biggest challenge right now is learning everyone’s name,” he jokes. “But the staff has been great. They are very friendly and very welcoming.”
