Gregory Endoscopy Centre team receives I CARE Award

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s I CARE Award recognizes staff members who go above and beyond their regular job responsibilities to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care. The entire Gregory Endoscopy Centre team was a recent recipient of an I CARE Award.

The team was nominated for their I CARE Award by Associate Chief Nurse, Perianesthesia/Procedural and Ambulatory Services Robin Kaufman, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, NEA-BC, Senior Director of Surgical and Procedural Services Jeffrey Blackwell, Peri-Procedural Services Project Manager Edward Acheampong, MSM, LSSBB, PMP, and Pam Park, NP, who wrote in their nomination letter:

There was an unanticipated air handler issue that caused the temperature in the GI area to increase. Staff were hot, especially with the gowns and other PPE needed to function in some of the roles. As our multi-departmental leadership teams worked to resolve the issue, there was a question of whether we would be able to finish the patients remaining that day. We spoke with staff to advise on whether they felt that they could manage in the current conditions. Without hesitation, our nurse, provider, tech and administrative staff stated that they weren’t leaving these patients without their procedures. Though the physical conditions were more challenging for them, they put our patients first and made sure nobody who had prepped and arrived that day was sent home without their procedure complete. They were all willing to adapt to move supplies and equipment for the following days to ensure safe patient care. This group of staff went above and beyond their usual duties, they were exceptionally sensitive to the needs of our patients and outstandingly resourceful in responding to them.
