Float Pool PCA receives I CARE Award

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s I CARE Award recognizes staff members from all areas of the hospital who go above and beyond their regular job responsibilities to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care. Nadine Saintus, a PCA in the Float Pool, was a recent recipient of an I CARE Award.

Saintus was nominated for her I CARE Award by Nursing Supervisor Laurie Flahive, BSN, RN. In her nomination letter, Flahive wrote:

One day, Nadine Saintus was arriving for her shift. She noticed a woman wandering on the 3rd floor looking for help. Nadine took it upon herself to listen to her and bring her to the Nursing Supervisor’s office staying with her until I could be of assistance. The woman was looking for help because she stated her father had fallen at home and couldn’t get up. Security and I escorted the woman to the ED and BPD was notified for a wellness check at patient’s address. It turns out the woman has dementia and walked from her house to BWFH to get help. In the end, EMS brought the woman’s husband in who did fall down the stairs and was in need of assistance. The outcome could have been different for both of them if Nadine did not take the time to assist this lovely woman. Thank you, Nadine, for your kindness and going out of your way to make a difference.

A team of colleagues will personally recognize the employee by presenting them with balloons, a thank you card and a gift certificate redeemable in the cafeteria or Atrium Café.
