Executive Director of Facilities and Support Services Edward Pitts, CHFM, CLSS-HC (center) receives his I CARE Award from members of the Rewards and Recognition Committee during a meeting with BWFH senior leadership
Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s I CARE Award recognizes staff members from all areas of the hospital who go above and beyond their regular job responsibilities to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care. Edward Pitts, CHFM, CLSS-HC, Executive Director of Facilities and Support Services, was a recent recipient of an I CARE Award.
Pitts was nominated for his I CARE Award by Terrance Lassiter, Senior Director of Public Safety and Support Services. In his nomination letter, Lassiter wrote:
On Tuesday, March 14, there was a major car fire in the Hillside garage. Ed Pitts was in a meeting when he was told that there was a large amount of smoke coming from the garage. Without hesitation, Ed left his meeting and ran to the garage to investigate. Once Ed got to the garage, he realized that there was a car on fire. Ed immediately let everyone know that there was indeed a fire, then proceeded to put the fire out with the assistance of our dedicated parking team. Ed did this without concern for his own personal safety. This is the type of dedication to duty and safety that Ed brings to the table each day. His only concern was for the safety of our patients, visitors and staff and not his. Ed even returned to work covered in fire extinguisher dust and smelling of smoke. Ed is a shining example of the fact that no matter what your position or level here at BWFH is, we all have a responsibility to keep everyone on this campus safe. Ed is a leader who leads from the front without the expectation of praise and always puts his team first. We are all safer every day with Ed here at BWFH.
Do you know a BWFH employee who has gone above and beyond to demonstrate BWFH’s I CARE Standards? To nominate a fellow colleague for an I CARE Award, please visit BWFH - Vitals (employee intranet). A team of colleagues will personally recognize the employee by presenting them with balloons, a thank you card and a gift certificate redeemable in the cafeteria or Atrium Café.
