Emerging Leaders Committee teams up with WERC for networking event

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Emerging Leaders Committee helps foster growth, improve retention and create a sense of community among our young professionals and early careerists. The Women’s Employee Resource Collaborative (WERC) is on a mission to support women working in all areas of the hospital at all stages of their careers. Because their goals dovetail so well together, the two groups recently teamed up to offer shared programming with a networking event titled “What Can Networking Do for You?”

“It just made sense to join forces to explore this topic with both groups,” says Katie Plante, Community Health and Wellness Program Manager and Emerging Leaders Committee Chair.

During the virtual event, participants learned what networking is, how we do it (sometimes unconsciously) in both our work and private lives and about its benefits. Members of both groups even had the opportunity to network with each other.

“It was really a unique opportunity to bring together a group of people from different areas of the hospital with different needs and wants and provide information on networking, but also have the opportunity to put the process of networking to use. I hope that participants not only learned some valuable information, but also forged some valuable relationships with colleagues,” says Plante.

Because the event was such a success, leadership from the Emerging Leaders Committee and WERC hope to offer more shared programming in the future.
