Dylan Riggieri assumes role of lead cardiac sonographer

Dylan Riggieri recently took over the role of Lead Cardiac Sonographer at BWFH. Riggieri has worked at BWFH as a cardiac sonographer since 2019, and in 2020 he took on greater responsibility as a lead.

He previously worked in echo at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Bridgewater State University and then attended Hoffman Heart Institute at Saint Francis Hospital in order to complete a certificate program in Adult Echocardiography.

In his role as lead cardiac sonographer, Riggieri performs transthoracic echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms, and stress echocardiograms, as well as organizing workflow and being point person for other sonographers. He credits his dad for being an influence on his career path choice. Riggieri says he knew he wanted to be part of the medical field in high school but was not sure of his direction. “My dad worked in echo, and opened my eyes to it,” he said. He has learned a lot in his current role, citing BWFH’s great cardiologists and doctors as well as the interesting nature of the cases. “The heart is a very vital organ. To be able to help someone and discover something that’s going to help their treatment or help them get better is a good feeling,” he said.

In his free time, he enjoys watching New England sports and staying active.
