DeSisto named Budget Director

Laura DeSisto

Laura DeSisto, who has held the role of Budget Manager in the Finance Department at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital since 2016, has been named Budget Director.

As Budget Director, DeSisto leads a team of two Senior Financial Analysts, oversees the operating and capital budgets, works on volume and forecasting and represents BWFH at the Partners-level Budget Directors Forum. She also offers a Budget Training Program based on feedback from a budget survey. “From the survey, we found out that people wanted to learn more,” she says. “The Finance team now offers quarterly training—this year, so far, we have had one on Vision and its reporting, one on the reports that my team produces in SharePoint and one upcoming on the budget process.”

For DeSisto, taking on an expanded role offers her the opportunity to do more for the hospital and its staff. “Our department is here to support the hospital and its financial needs,” she says. “We’re always taking a look at the reports we put together and making changes to better serve the hospital today and in the future. We also have a lot of exciting projects on the horizon as our volume continues to grow. I am thrilled to play a role in building for the future of BWFH.”

DeSisto is a graduate of Boston College where she earned her undergraduate degree in Communications. She also holds an MBA in Health Sector Management from Boston University’s Graduate School of Management.

Before joining BWFH in 2016, DeSisto served as Senior Budget Analyst at Newton-Wellesley Hospital where she reviewed operating budgets to analyze trends impacting budget needs and tracked capital project approvals and spending. She has also previously held positions with Fidelity Investments and Boston Children’s Hospital.
