Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital is committed to providing our nurses with the on-site educational resources necessary to advance and grow their careers, as well as supporting nurses on their journeys toward board certification and earning advanced degrees.
Recently, Nursing Professional Development Managers hosted a Professional Development Fair intended for current nurses as well as PCAs.
“As a member of the Professional Development team, I truly subscribe to the words of Florence Nightingale, who said, ‘Let us never consider ourselves finished nurses... we must be learning all of our lives,’” says Professional Development Manager for Recruitment and Retention Ann Marie Reynolds-Lynch, DNP, MSN, RN, who spearheaded the planning process for the fair. “The fair was a great opportunity for our Professional Development managers to learn more about our current staff’s needs and wants.”
During the event, the Nursing Professional Development Managers, Nursing Program Managers and Nursing Program Director hosted informational tables related to the various opportunities for professional development, from certifications to exploring specialties in their practice, to returning to college with help from the tuition reimburse program. Staff who attended were able to earn continuing education contact hours.
“I was so pleased to see so many of our nurses and support staff take the time to visit the fair and engage with our Professional Development team,” says Executive Director of Nursing Professional Development, Practice and Innovation Colleen West, DNP, MBA, RN, CPHQ. “It shows just how committed and engaged members of the Department of Nursing are when it comes to their own careers and advancing the care we provide our patients.”
