Daily Safety Huddles begin at BWFH

As part of the hospital’s Strategic Goals, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital has begun Daily Safety Huddles. The Daily Safety Huddle takes place each weekday at 9:30 am in the Mary Ann Tynan Conference Center, bringing together clinical and operational leaders for a brief, 15-minute focused meeting to identify obstacles to managing patient care and flow in a safe, timely manner.

“The purpose of the Daily Safety Huddle is to create a daily system to empower front line leaders to identify and escalate concerns regarding barriers to delivering high-quality, timely and safe patient care,” says BWFH’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Peggy Duggan. “We also hope to be able to increase shared situational awareness of key quality, safety and operational issues and create a forum for prompt and proactive resolution of identified vulnerabilities.”

Members of the huddle will collectively work to address and resolve those issues in real time. These huddles will increase safety awareness among frontline staff, allow teams to develop action plans to address identified issues and foster a culture of safety.

The standard agenda is as follows:
