Community Health and Wellness Assistant Katie Plante at the Parkway YMCA
Healthy Kids Day is a national event at YMCAs all over the country focused on promoting healthy habits in children. On April 27, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Community Health and Wellness Assistant Katie Plante took part in the festivities at the Parkway Community YMCA in West Roxbury.
“Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Community Health and Wellness Department has been part of Healthy Kids Day at the Parkway YMCA for many years as part of our long-term collaborative partnership and commitment to the community,” says Director of Community Health and Wellness Tracy Sylven.
At the Parkway YMCA, Plante offered a healthy recipe tasting of zucchini noodle salad and did fruit and vegetable trivia with the kids for a prize. There were also crossword puzzles and word searches for the kids to take home. “The families loved trying the sample and then getting to talk about their favorite fruits and vegetables. It was a great day to be part of the community and fun to have them be so excited about healthy foods,” she says.
