Gabriel Tobia, MD, recently joined Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry where he will see patients as an attending physician on the inpatient psychiatry unit. He will also see patients in the Partial Hospital Program.
Dr. Tobia earned a bachelor of science degree in Biology and his doctor of medicine from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon before moving to Michigan to continue his training. There, he completed his residency in Psychiatry at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center and a fellowship in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute. He later moved to Philadelphia to complete another fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Tobia is board certified in Psychiatry.
In addition to his interest in consultation-liaison psychiatry, Dr. Tobia has interests in sexual medicine, cultural psychiatry and psychoanalysis.
At BWFH, Dr. Tobia is pleased to be part of the expert team caring for patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. “I am looking forward to working in a setting where academic excellence and warmth and camaraderie intersect,” he says. “Everyone I have met here has been very warm and welcoming, and I look forward to working with them.”
When he is not at work, Dr. Tobia enjoys the opera and classical music, as well as museums, theater and film. He also loves to cook.
