The John R. Graham Headache Center at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital is pleased to welcome Brian E. McGeeney, MD, MPH, MBA, to its team of headache specialists. Dr. McGeeney comes to BWFH from Boston Medical Center where he practiced in the pain medicine section within their department of neurology for more than 20 years.
Dr. McGeeney attended medical school at the University College of Dublin in Ireland. He later attended Boston University where he earned both his MPH and MBA. In between, he completed a number of residencies in Neurology, both in Ireland and the United States and a fellowship in Pain Medicine in the Department of Neurology at Boston Medical Center.
He is a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society, the American Headache Society, the International Headache Society and the American Academy of Neurology. He currently serves as Associate Editor for the journal Headache, as a Board Member and Secretary for the Headache Cooperative of New England and on the Medical Advisory Board for ClusterBusters, a research and educational organization dedicated to researching treatments that show promise for reliable, effective and long-term relief from cluster and related headaches.
Here at BWFH, Dr. McGeeney says he hopes to have the opportunity to grow clinically and academically in his field. “I look forward to working in one of the largest headache medicine divisions in the country, if not the largest!” he says. “Joining a group of practitioners with a similar interest in headache medicine and participating in the education of headache medicine fellows are core reasons for my move to BWFH.”
Outside of work, Dr. McGeeney listens to music to relax. He also enjoys jogging, a hobby he hopes to devote more time to in the near future.
