Serig walks with two lymphedema program patients
Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital is proud to have been among the sponsors for the 2019 MA Run/Walk to Fight Lymphedema & Lymphatic Diseases, which was hosted by the Lymphatic Education & Research Network (LE&RN).
Participants in the event either ran or walked a 5K on behalf of the estimated 10 million Americans and 250 million people worldwide who are fighting this Lymphedemic. Among the participants was BWFH’s outpatient occupational therapist and lymphedema program coordinator Angela Serig, OTR/L, CHT, CLT-LANA, and two of her patients.
Serig says, “The event was a big success! I was on the planning committee for the LE&RN MA chapter and it was the first inaugural 5K walk in Boston. The initial goal was to raise $10,000 to help fund research and outreach for persons with lymphedema and lymphatic diseases. So far, the event far exceeded our expectations and raised over $28,000!”
