BWFH names new Chief of Anesthesia

Costin Negroiu, MD, will become the next Chief of Anesthesia at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, effective August 1, 2022.

Dr. Negroiu is a well-known member of our organization, having served as the Vice Chair and Associate Clinical Director of Anesthesia at BWFH for the past nine years.

He completed his undergraduate studies at the B. P. Hasdeu National College in Romania before graduating from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, also in Romania. He completed his post-doctoral research fellowship at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Prior to joining BWFH in 2013, he was a member of the anesthesiology team at UMass Memorial Medical Center.

Dr. Negroiu’s appointment as Chief of Anesthesia at BWFH builds upon Mass General Brigham’s enterprise anesthesiology service and our collective goal of providing seamless integrated care for our Mass General Brigham patients across our entire system.

As Chief of Anesthesia at BWFH, Dr. Negroiu will serve as the key leader for the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine where he’ll be responsible for a broad range of clinical, administrative and strategic efforts at BWFH in collaboration with colleagues from across the Mass General Brigham system.

Dr. Negroiu is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Massachusetts Society of Anesthesiology and the Society for Education in Anesthesia.
