Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital maintains straight "As" for patient safety

Once again, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital has been recognized for its dedication to patient safety by being awarded an “A” grade in the Fall 2019 Hospital Safety Grade, which rates how well hospitals protect patients from preventable medical errors, injuries and infections within the hospital. BWFH is also being recognized among only a handful of hospitals nationally to have achieved “Straight As”—meaning consistently earning an “A” since the inception of the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Score in 2012. We are one of just 36 hospitals nationwide to earn this distinction.

The Safety Grade assigns grades from A to F to all general hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care.

Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
