BWFH hosts meeting of the Massachusetts chapter of ACDIS

ACDIS Meeting

Clinical Nutrition Manager Shannon Vukosa, RD, LDN, presents at the Massachusetts’ Chapter of ACDIS quarterly meeting

The Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists (ACDIS) is dedicated to serving as the premier healthcare community for clinical documentation specialists, providing a medium for education, professional growth, program recognition and networking. Its Massachusetts Chapter has three leaders, including Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital Clinical Documentation Specialist Kirsten Larrabee, BSN, RN, CCDS.

Larrabee and her co-leaders are charged with providing quarterly educational programming to chapter members. Recently, BWFH played host to one of these meetings.

“At each quarterly meeting, in addition to general chapter updates and business, we choose a topic to focus on,” says Larrabee. “Here at BWFH, we work closely with the dietitians on malnutrition to make sure the providers document those diagnoses. That work was chosen as the topic for our most recent meeting.”

BWFH’s Clinical Nutrition Manager Shannon Vukosa, RD, LDN, joined Larrabee for the presentation. “We talked about how we collaborate together and with the main Brigham campus and their dietitians to increase our capture rate of the diagnosis and the different ways we’ve changed our program,” says Larrabee. “We had a really great turn out and the attendees were really engaged.”

In fact, the event drew roughly 50 chapter members from Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

Those credentialed for CCDS earned two CEUs.
