Recently, students from Boston Preparatory Charter Public School in Hyde Park visited Brigham and Women’s Faulkner to take part in an informative career panel discussion. The day’s events gave students the opportunity to interact with healthcare professionals from various areas throughout the hospital.
On hand to share about their roles were Community Health and Wellness Assistant Katie Plante, Human Resources Generalist Wendy Calabrese, Nurse Practitioner Rebecca Mogensen, RN, MSN, ACNP-BC, Manager of Materials Management Jorge Villanueva and Physician Assistant Nicole Dwyer, PA-C.
Plante, who organized the event, says, “The students were extremely engaged and asked a variety of great questions—I was impressed with their interest. I deeply appreciate the time and effort given by these panelists. They gave useful advice and shared their own stories for the students, and it definitely makes an impact.”
For Villanueva, being able to take part in the career panel and make an impact was very special. “The students had great questions,” he says. “Personally it was a very rewarding experience to be able to give them some insight on what it is like to work in a hospital. Hopefully we helped provide some guidance as they prepare for the next stage in their lives.”
