At Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, we’re committed to treating illness, as well as helping to prevent disease and the factors that precipitate disease in the residents of our community. This holiday season, representatives from BWFH showed their dedication to this cause by delivering Thanksgiving dinners to members of the community in need.
The event was sponsored by Families in Need, a program established 27 years ago by the late Mary Mulvey Jacobson and continued by the West Roxbury Business and Professional Association. Together with other volunteers from the community, Jane O’Donnell, Practice Manager at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Community Physicians’ Hyde Park office, Katie Plante, BWFH’s Community Health and Wellness Assistant, and Nancy Matthews, Assistant Nursing Director at Brigham and Women’s Primary Physicians at BWFH, delivered turkeys and other Thanksgiving meal items to over 100 families in need in our community.
“Bringing a Thanksgiving meal to these families was such a wonderful program to be a part of,” says Plante. “Seeing their faces and hearing their excitement as they saw us at the door was truly the best.”
