Senior Director of Surgical and Procedural Services Earns Top Healthcare Management Credential

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Senior Director of Surgical and Procedural Services Jeffrey Blackwell recently became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the nation’s leading professional society for healthcare leaders.

Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development. In fact, fewer than 9,000 healthcare executives in the United States hold this distinction. To obtain Fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education hours, demonstrating professional/community involvement and passing a comprehensive examination. Fellows also are committed to ongoing professional development and undergo recertification every three years.

For Blackwell, who has been a long-time member of the ACHE, becoming board certified as an ACHE Fellow, to be represented in his signature with “FACHE,” is a testament to his ongoing commitment to his role as a leader in healthcare. “I truly believe in evidence-based management,” he says. “Fellowship in the ACHE demonstrates my commitment to continuing to learn and adapt to the changing healthcare landscape so that I may be most impactful within our organization, today and into the future.”

To earn his FACHE credential, Blackwell spent the winter studying for the Board of Governors Exam in Healthcare Management. “For me, this was the right time to pursue my FACHE credential,” says Blackwell. “Because of the pandemic, I used my free time on weekends to study for the exam.”
