Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s I CARE Award recognizes staff members who go above and beyond their regular job responsibilities to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care. This spring, the Rewards and Recognition Committee has delivered I CARE Awards to staff members from throughout the hospital.
Among them were:
Jasra Bhat, MD, from the Department of Psychiatry who stepped up to provide a bridge appointment for a patient awaiting discharge who needed a particular medication that required a provider with REMS certification. As a result, the patient was safely discharged on time.
Dinora Cortez from Environmental Services who demonstrated to Infection Preventionist Brittany Herrick, BSN, RN, her commitment to keeping her colleagues, patients and visitor safe by dedicating herself to her work cleaning high-touch areas and sharing her infection control best practices with her fellow housekeepers.
Regina Gavin from Spiritual Care Services who spends extra time caring for the spiritual needs of a long-term patient whose mental status wanes and waxes each day. The patient often only finds comfort in her religion, so Gavin visits with her in her inpatient room and in BWFH’s chapel.
Elena Rodriguez from Environmental Services, like Cortez, goes the extra mile in her housekeeping duties. On 6 North, she treats her patients like family, oftentimes going into each patient’s room and taking the time to speak with them about their particular needs.
