Like so many projects, planned renovations to Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Gift Shop were put on hold when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. In fact, the Gift Shop remained closed from March through June of 2020. When the shop reopened, the need to refresh the space remained. Recently, the project was put back on track. Now the refreshed space is more inviting to staff, patients and visitors.
Renovations included new flooring, new fixtures and relocating greeting cards from tall racks that closed in the space to the wall to create a more open feel. Gift Shop Manager Jani Margolin says, “It looks really nice. The shop now has a much more contemporary look.”
But some things have not changed—the welcoming shopping environment and the unique items for sale.
Margolin, who owned a boutique in Newton for many years before becoming the Gift Shop Manager, says “I try to stock the store like I would a boutique.”
Some of her bestselling items include clothing, scarves, jewelry, bags and other fashion items. She also has small departments devoted to housewares, pets, children and men’s items. And, of course, she carries greeting cards, flowers, candy and BWFH logo wear.
The Gift Shop is always a great place to pick up last-minute gifts. Margolin reminds us that Mother’s Day is just around the corner. “We have some great Mother’s Day gifts like hand creams and soaps,” she says.
The Gift Shop is open Monday through Friday, 10 am to 4 pm.
