New Director of Police, Security, Safety and Parking hired at BWFH

Terrance Lassiter recently assumed the role of Director of Police, Security, Safety and Parking at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital. He comes to BWFH from North Shore Medical Center where he was most recently Director of Police and Security.

Lassiter, an Army veteran, studied Criminal Justice with a law enforcement concentration at American Intercontinental University. In the past, he has worked as a security supervisor at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Lowell General Hospital and in the corporate world. He began at North Shore Medical Center as Operations Manager before assuming the role of Director.

At BWFH, Lassiter is finding the culture to be very different from the much larger North Shore Medical Center. “People come in and introduce themselves. I have meet and greets scheduled with many of the directors. That is so important. It’s helping me learn who to go to for different things and it gives me a chance to ask them how things are going and what we can do better as a department.”

For Lassiter, the goal at BWFH is simple. “We’re trying our best to keep everyone safe,” he says. “Staff safety is important, as is patient safety. We have a pretty robust de-escalation program here, but I’d like to find a way to make sure all frontline staff attend. Eventually I’d like to make the schedule more convenient for staff so that we can get everyone to take re-certification every two years.”

Of his decision to leave North Shore and come to BWFH, Lassiter has no regrets. “So far I love it. Especially my 17-minute commute!” he says.

Outside of work, Lassiter enjoys going to the gym and hiking. “Hiking is something new that I started a couple years ago,” he says. “I find it so relaxing. And it’s a good workout too.”
