Lead Investigator and Manager of Training & Compliance Joins Department of Police, Security & Safety

At Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, the Department of Police, Security & Safety includes nearly 50 full- and part-time Security Officers under the direction of Senior Director of Public Safety and Support Services Terrance Lassiter and Chief of Police Stewart Prue. To better support this growing department, Robert Hain recently joined the team as Lead Investigator and Manager of Training & Compliance.

In his investigative role, Hain looks into serious events that take place on campus, and also does work to mitigate the chances of a serious event taking place. He is responsible for reviewing officer’s reports and their corresponding RLs (the hospital’s patient safety reporting tool) to make sure the information in each matches, and that proper documentation is in place. He also manages the dispatch center and officer training. “It is our duty to provide our officers proper training for their toolbelt. If we do, we can expect better outcomes,” he says of the training piece of his role.

Hain holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, both from Westfield State University. He comes to BWFH from Bentley University Police. “It was here that I learned the importance of community involvement and community policing,” he says. “I pride myself on my ability to talk to a wall and get its life story and thoroughly enjoy doing it. This served me well as I got to know a large population of students and staff very quickly and made a name for myself at Bentley. I hope to do the same here at BWFH.”

So far, Hain says he is thrilled with his decision to join the team at BWFH. “I’ve loved it here from day one. I feel like my role is important and my opinions matter. And I’m surrounded by such intelligent people,” he says.

Outside of work, Hain enjoys spending time outdoors with his girlfriend, two children, and two dogs.
