Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Leadership Award was established in 2005 to recognize and honor a member of the leadership team for their outstanding contributions to both their department and to the hospital at large. The award is presented annually to a member of the Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital Leadership Council who demonstrates outstanding leadership, fosters creativity and supports innovation in all they do. At a recent Leadership Council retreat, Director of Rehabilitation Services Jean Flanagan Jay, PT, DPT, CLT, was presented with the 2018 Leadership Award.
Jay was presented with her award by President Michael Gustafson, MD, MBA, and Vice President of Clinical Services Susan Dempsey. Dr. Gustafson described her as embodying BWFH’s leaders’ commitment to advancing the hospital’s strategic goals. He said, “she has continually been innovating the care the physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy departments deliver in collaboration with various clinical services. Jean has expanded the programs tremendously to keep up with the demand from growing service lines, such as Spine and Orthopedics. She is also focused on continually improving the patient and family experience, based on ongoing feedback and measurement, and is always trying novel approaches to meet patients’ needs. Finally, she has developed an amazing team of staff members, who are very best in what they do!”
When asked how it felt to receive her Leadership Award, Jay said, “I am honored to have my work recognized with this award. However, it is only possible because of my amazing team and the compassionate care they always provide our patients.”
