Interventional Radiology

Interventional Radiology services offered at BWFH include insertion and removal of PICC Lines, Lumbar Punctures, Myelograms, Arthrograms, Joint Injections and Joint Aspirations. CT or MRI imaging may be performed in conjunction with arthrogram or joint injection. Results for your exam are generally available for your provider to view on the same day of your exam.

How can I schedule an appointment?

Please contact your physician and have them call 617-983-7272 to schedule your appointment. Interventional Radiology is available for outpatient procedures Monday through Friday.

How do I prepare for my exam?

For PICC line insertions or removals, arthrograms, joint injections or aspirations, you may eat and drink normally and/or take any necessary prescribed medications on the day of your exam.

How long will I need to remain in department recovery after my exam?

You will be able to leave recovery one hour after your exam.

Will I be able to drive myself home after the procedure is complete?

For both Lumbar Punctures and Myelograms, please have a responsible adult pick you up and drive you home after the procedure.
