Cafeteria staff receives PIE Award for friendly and attentive service
Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s cafeteria staff was recently awarded with a Partners in Excellence (PIE) Award in the category of Quality Treatment and Service. The team was recognized for being consistently friendly, attentive and eager to help both hospital visitors and staff.
The team was nominated by BWFH’s Chief of Gynecology Dr. James Greenberg, who described the cafeteria staff as the core of the “Friendly Faulkner.” In his nomination, he wrote, “Since almost every staff member and visitor to BWFH goes through the cafeteria, their attitude often sets the tone for the whole institution. These are hardworking people who make everyone in our hospital community’s life better.”
Upon learning of their PIE Award, team leader and Cafeteria Manager John Dantona expressed his pride for his team. “Our staff shows kindness and compassion and is friendly to all staff and visitors,” he said. “They go the extra mile to help out each customer and to know what they like and make them feel at home.”
Susan Langill, RD, LDN, Director of BWFH’s Food and Nutrition Department, wasn’t surprised to learn that her staff was being honored. “It validates what I have felt for years,” she says. “That through volume growth and many changes, the team has worked together to provide great food and service to our customers. It’s such a pleasure to work with this team.”
